Where // 407 E. Saratoga St. / 410-327-8333
Web site // www.sonar baltimore.com
Notable // Three rooms: a lounge with a bar and couches, a club room with a smaller stage and a capacity of 350 and a main show room with multiple bars and a capacity of 1,000.
Vibe // Straight-up warehouse - a little dirty, but that's how it should be. The lighting rig isn't huge, the stage isn't too elevated and the floor doesn't slope that much, but none of that detracts from Sonar's feel or the energy of the people there.
What to wear // Anything you want, but black dress pants paired with a Geoffrey Beane shirt is generally a bad idea in a place like this. For the guys, jeans, shorts and collared or plain old T-shirts are more like it. Same goes for girls - wear nothing formal, unless you want to ruin it quick.
Crowd // Hipsters, indie kids, ravers and twisted hippies
Music // Sonar hosts DJ dance nights such as Taxidermy Lounge and bands such as LCD Soundsystem, Jurassic 5 and Kings of Leon. You'll never see a Dave Matthews cover band here.
