One of the Fells Point Olde Guard bars, it's easy to imagine what Leadbetter's looked like 100 years back (probably not much different).

1639 Thames St.

410-675-4794

Instead of a normal door, Leadbetter's has two long, saloon-like swinging doors made of wood and glass. Inside, there are random metal promo signs for various beers slapped on the walls and ceiling. The bartender blows a whistle when it's last call.

Straight-up. It's not fancy, new or squeaky clean. It's Leadbetter's, and it knows it.

If you're at Leadbetter's, you're not there to impress anyone. You could wear your dirtiest, rattiest pair of jeans and a T-shirt, and no one would bat an eye.

Usually skews older and includes Fells Point locals and people dodging the Greene Turtleheads. Leadbetter's attracts a friendly and occasionally ornery bunch who come to talk, drink and see live grassroots music.

There are regular open mike nights on Mondays and singer/songwriters and bands throughout the week.
