Pumpkins( Kim Hairston, Baltimore Sun Photo / September 20, 2011 )
Is any vegetable cooler than the pumpkin? They can weigh hundreds of pounds, you can carve a scary face into them, they were the subject of a "Peanuts" special and Tastykake makes a pretty mean pie out of them. We've even heard talk of people who sling them on giant catapults. And there's no rock band called the Smashing Cucumbers. Fall=Pumpkins, and for that, we should be eternally grateful.
