'Life of Pi'
The book: "A story to make you believe in the soul-sustaining power of fiction and its human creators, and in the original power of storytellers like Martel." -- Los Angeles Times Book Review. It won the Man Booker Prize.
Why it's "unfilmable": Wold you want to be the actor stuck on a small boat with a hungry tiger? Obviously, we had to wait for the CGI to get good enough. There's also the philosophical, theological and just plain mystical underpinnings of the book, which makes the story so captivating.
The movie: "A gorgeous and accomplished rendering of the massive best-seller." -- Todd McCarthy, Hollywood Reporter
"There isn't a dull moment in the film, and there are about 300 worthy of a 'wow.'" -- Jordan Hoffman, Film.com
