In 1938, a group of citizens formed the association, which was initially affiliated with the Civic Music Association and brought in such famous artists as Marion Anderson, Kirsten Flagstad, the Ballets Russes, Vienna Boys Choir and Ferrante and Teicher.
In 1957, the organization voted to join with Community Concerts, bringing in such artists as Kathleen Battle, the New Christy Minstrels, the Indianapolis Symphony and Leland Chen. In 2003, the association started working with Live on Stage, continuing the heritage of bringing live performances to Aberdeen.
