Ed Marinaro

As an athlete: Marinaro was a star running back at Cornell back when Ivy League football still meant something on the national stage. He finished as the runner-up to Auburn quarterback Pat Sullivan in the 1971 Heisman Trophy balloting and went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings, the New York Jets and the Seattle Seahawks. As an actor: Marinaro's biggest claim to fame in Hollywood was his role as police officer Joe Coffey in the landmark NBC drama "Hill Street Blues".
