Fort Monroe's new Paradise Ocean Club to host Uncle Kracker on Sept. 9

I understood from Daily Press stories about the new Paradise Ocean Club at Fort Monroe that the waterside venue would eventually present some national entertainers. It's happening soon. Uncle Kracker is set to play there Sept. 9.

The announcement came from sources at country radio outlet U.S. 106.1, which has the show listed on its concert calendar.

I'm told that tickets won't be required for the show, but regular admission to the club will apply.

"It’s always a $10 admission price to get in to Paradise Ocean Club and Uncle Kracker will just be an addition to the regular admission," wrote Jason Fox with Sinclair Communications, parent company of U.S. 106.1. "No tickets necessary and open to everyone!"

The Paradise Ocean Club's website is still under construction and doesn't yet include information about the show, but a staff member there confirmed the show.

An as-yet-undetermined opening act will play around 3 p.m. and the headliner will take the stage about 6 p.m., I was told.

In case your memory needs jogging, Uncle Kracker is the former Kid Rock DJ who, on his own, evolved into a country and pop hitmaker. His hits include "Drift Away," "Smile" and "In a Little While" and "Follow Me," a No. 5 pop hit in 2001.

Below you'll see and hear Kracker's newest hit, "My Hometown."
