Steve V. Fleming, 54, was arrested on June 6, 2008 and charged in connection with an attempted abduction of a 4-year-old boy at a Virginia Beach Dairy Queen.
Police say a mother was standing in line at the oceanfront Dairy Queen on 16th Street around 9 p.m. with her son when Steve Fleming grabbed her son and tried to run away.
The child's mother chased Fleming and grabbed her child, trying to wrestle him from away. She was able to take her child back from Fleming and called 9-1-1.
While the child's mother was on the phone with 9-1-1, Fleming approached the family and tried to coax the boy from his family by stepping between the child and a family member, police said.
Fleming started to run away when he saw police responding to the scene, but was quickly arrested.
He has been charged with one count of attempted abduction.
