The Cavaliers come off a 88-84 OT victory Sunday at Georgia Tech 88-84.
William and Mary (5-6, 0-1 CAA) at Northeastern (6-5, 1-0), 1 p.m. The Tribe plays the first of four CAA games in seven days. The Huskies were the preseason pick to finish second in the league. William and Mary beat Harvard 67-54 on New Year's Eve to win its second straight game, while Northeastern, led by junior guard Matt Janning's 15.4 points per game, is coming off an 80-48 loss at Memphis on Dec. 28.
Old Dominion (8-3, 1-0 CAA) at Georgia State (3-9, 0-1), 4 p.m. The Monarchs, who lead the all-time series with the Panthers 9-1, have won seven straight games. Gerald Lee's 15.3 points per game leads seven players averaging more than six points per game. Panthers junior guard Joe Dukes is averaging 13.8 points per game, while Trae Goldson is pulling down 13.3 rebounds per game.
Kent State (6-6) at Hampton (6-6), 6 p.m. For the second straight game, Hampton is offering free admission with its students on holiday break. Coach Kevin Nickelberry said about 1,500 people attended Tuesday's 58-56 win against Yale. Vincent Simpson leads the Pirates with 10 points per game. The Golden Flashes have won three of their last four but haven't won on the road since Nov. 19.
Maryland Bible College (5-5) at Christopher Newport (5-5), 7:30 p.m. A rematch of the 64-61 CNU loss on Dec. 5, this is one of the first-round games in the Captains Shootout. Michael Green leads four Captains averaging double digits with 13.6 points per game. CNU finished third in the Cactus Jam at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, beating SUNY-Old Westbury 96-86 on Tuesday.
