Chavis Holmes scored 22 points and twin Travis Holmes added 16 as Virginia Military Institute rallied for a 78-58 win over Liberty in the semifinals of the Big South Conference tournament.
The second-seeded Keydets (24-7) trailed most of the first half and 32-27 at the break. VMI pulled ahead with 15:06 to go on a 3-pointer by Chavis Holmes to make it 39-38, then used a 30-10 run to lead by 21 with 5:43 left.
VMI will play at 4 p.m. Saturday against top-seeded Radford, a 94-86 winner over UNC Asheville.
ODU's Lee, W&M's Schneider honoredOld Dominion junior Gerald Lee was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association first team Thursday after averaging 15.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while leading the Monarchs to a 20-9 record.
William and Mary junior guard David Schneider picked up a pair of honors, including third-team All-CAA and first-team all-academic.
Joining Lee on the first team were Delaware guard Marc Egerson, Northeastern guard Matt Janning, Hofstra guard Charles Jenkins and VCU guard Eric Maynor, who was named conference player of the year for the second straightseason.
Also, William and Mary freshman wing Quinn McDowell landed on the all-rookie team, and ODU senior forward Jonathan Adams the all-academic second team.
Others honored were Drexel's Bruiser Flint, coach of the year; James Madison's Julius Wells, rookie of the year; and VCU's Larry Sanders, defensive player of the year.
