Taylor Le Moal of York County was awarded the Katherine Creswell Award at World Class Gymnastics' 2013 year-end banquet.
Le Moal competed in Level 10 in 2012-2013 at numerous meets: Atlantis Crown Invitational, Bahamas, Circle of Stars, Indianapolis, World Class Invitational, Newport News, Parkettes Invitational, Allentown and Chicago Style.
She was injured at the Excalibur Cup meet in Virginia Beach in February and missed the remainder of the Invitational season. But at the state championships in Virginia Beach in March, Taylor competed as Level 9, placing second on vault (9.175) and on bars (9.0), and first on balance beam (9.05), floor exercise (9.525) and all-around (36.750).
She also won the vault, beam, floor and all-around as a Level 9 in 2012. Le Moal qualified to compete at the Region 7 Level 9 Championships at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. She was second on bars and floor and sixth all-around, which qualified her to be part of Team Region 7 at the Eastern National Championships in Battle Creek, Mich.
At the Eastern meet, Le Moal finished in the top 10 and led Team Region 7 to second place.
The Katherine Creswell Award recipient is selected by the World Class coaching staff for the athlete who shows dedication and determination. In prior years, Le Moal was awarded as the most-improved Level 8 and most valuable Level 9.
Le Moal is a graduating senior at York High, earning highest honors. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish National Honor Society.
She has an academic scholarship for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University and has been selected to be on its gymnastics team.
