Friday's multi-sport high school roundup: Tabb, York girls achieve soccer wins in Bay Rivers

Girls soccer:

Getting goals from Erin Fenton and Natalie Stratton, Tabb overcame Grafton 2-1 Friday in overtime. ...

York (6-5-2, 4-4-2 Bay Rivers District) shut out Lafayette 2-0 as freshman Madison Van Dyke had a goal and an assist.

Boys lacrosse:

Noah Dowd scored on all five of his shots to lead Nansemond-Suffolk Academy past North Cross of Roanoke 12-10 in a Virginia Independent Schools Division II semifinal in Ashland.

Dan Hotte made nine saves for the Saints, who will face Covenant of Charlottesville on Saturday for the championship. This is NSA's first title-game appearance since 2001.

Baseball:

Thanks to rain early Friday and wet field conditions, Friday's scheduled semifinals in the Virginia Independent Schools tournament at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights were moved to Saturday.

The three finals then were rescheduled for Sunday. Division II team Miller and Division III Southampton Academy qualified with victories Thursday, but the other spots are to be determined.
