Friday's multi-sport high school roundup: Warhill, Lafayette girls advance to Colonial Rivers soccer semifinals

Girls soccer:

Warhill beat New Kent 2-1 in a Colonial Rivers Conference 25 quarterfinal Friday as Allie Darcy scored with less than 10 minutes left.

The Lions will play a semifinal against Lafayette at 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Kent. The winner of that game will advance to the Group 3A East Regional.

Lafayette had no trouble with Park View, winning 6-0.

Boys soccer:

Host Grassfield scored in the 80th minute to beat Bethel 2-1 in a Monitor-Merrimac Conference 2 semifinal in Chesapeake.

The top-seeded Grizzlies ended the Bruins' season on a rebound goal by Doah Kwiatkowski that was assisted by Andrew Delgado's deflected cross.

Baseball:

Jamestown shut down Tabb 7-1 in a matchup of Conference 19 and Bay Rivers District rivals as Kent Klyman struck out 10 in five innings for the win.

Evan Lowery led the Eagles' offense, collecting a double, two singles and two RBI without making an out. Sean Hughes homered and drove in three runs. Klyman added a pair of hits. ...

Softball:

King William rolled past Colonial Beach in a doubleheader, 15-0 and 6-1.

In Game 1, Kayla Huffman provided one of the best performances of the season. She pitched a perfect game, recording 12 of the 15 outs on strikes, and batted 3-for-3 with five RBI.
