La Salle’s Ramon Galloway scored 18 points and James Madison’s A.J. Davis added 10 to help Roger Brown’s Restaurant pound Portsmouth Sports Club 91-64 Thursday night in the first round of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament at Churchland High.
The annual event features 64 seniors playing in front of pro scouts from the NBA and overseas teams.
In the final first-round contest, Oregon's E.J. Singler scored 18 points to help Cherry Bekaert overcome Sales Systems Ltd. 81-74.
Mississippi's Murphy Holloway added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the victors, and Miami guard Durand Scott had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
For Sales Systems, Murray State's Ed Daniel netted 17 points and Michigan State's Derrick Nix had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In a consolation game, Tennessee State’s Robert Covington had 16 points and nine rebounds to help Mike Duman Auto beat Norfolk Sports Club 90-80.
Notre Dame’s Jack Cooley had 14 points and 16 rebounds for NSC.
