The International League South Division-leading Norfolk Tides (28-12) scored nine runs in the fourth inning Wednesday and cruised to a 10-1 win over Lehigh Valley before 3,606 at Harbor Park, extending their winning streak to five.
Danny Valencia’s 10th home run of the year, a two-run shot, began the uprising.
Russ Canzler had three hits for the Tides, while Trayvon Robinson, Brandon Wood and Buck Britton added two apiece. Josh Stinson pitched six innings for the win.
Richmond (19-19) blew a five-run edge, then recovered to win 7-6 at Harrisburg for the Flying Squirrels’ second win in the three-game series.
Catcher Andrew Susac clubbed his fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot that put the Squirrels ahead 6-1.
The Senators, Washington’s top affiliate, caught up at 6 with a four-run sixth. But Susac doubled in Javier Herrera with the eventual winning run in the seventh.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
