Former Hampton University star Francena McCorory qualified for the world championships in Moscow with a second-place finish Saturday in the 400 meters at the U.S. championships in Des Moines, Iowa. McCorory completed the race in a personal-best 50.01 seconds.

Natasha Hastings won the event in 49.94, while two-time NCAA champion Ashley Spencer of Illinois also made the world team with a third-place finish in 50.58.
