York County's run in the state Junior tournament ended with a 6-1 loss Tuesday morning to Front Royal.
David Brewster batted 2-for-3 and Rayvon Patrick 1-for-2 with a double for York.
In the district tournament play-in game Tuesday night, Poquoson Post 273 beat Hampton Post 31 at Trimble Field, ending Hampton's season.
Post 31 finished 3-10 against district opposition, while Poquoson improved to 2-11.
The tourney's double-elimination phase begins Wednesday.
That day, the games are both at 5:30 p.m. Poquoson will face No. 1 Williamsburg Post 39 at Warhill High, while No. 3 Gloucester Post 75 (7-5) will meet No. 4 Denbigh Post 368 (8-4) at Woodside High.
There are two games per day scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If two teams still remain, a winner-take-all championship game is planned for Saturday.
The tournament winner will advance to the state playoffs, joining Post 39, which already has qualified by virtue of being the host team. If Williamsburg takes the title, the district tournament runner-up also will advance.
The state tournament will run from July 29 to Aug. 3 on an outdoor field at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex.
