Tuesday's local baseball roundup: Generals walk off to drop Pilots under .500

Daily Press

Coastal Plain League:

Campbell's Elijah Trail drew a bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning to give the Petersburg Generals (2-5) a 5-4 home win against the Peninsula Pilots (3-4) Tuesday.

The Pilots scored a run in the ninth to tie the game but couldn't go ahead.

It cost them when VMI's Gary LaClair trotted home with the winning run on a mistargeted pitch by Longwood's Aaron Myers, a Denbigh High graduate. Myers hit two batters earlier in the inning, the only one he pitched.

Thomas Gill, a former Warhill High player, pitched 5 2/3 innings for Petersburg, yielding two runs and three hits.

Concord's Bret Blevins was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for the Pilots, while Lander's Patrick Grady batted 2-for-4 with an RBI.
