Hampton was picked by league coaches and sports information directors to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s Northern Division, and two Pirates — junior outside hitter Krista Kraskura and senior setter Bibiany Fonseca — were named to the preseason All-MEAC team.
Norfolk State was predicted third in the Northern Division, and Spartans senior middle blocker Goda Jankauskaite and redshirt junior libero Noelle Eagles made the preseason All-MEAC list.
Last season, NSU was 14-20 overall but 9-3 in conference play, second in the Northern Division. HU won 19 matches, was third in its division and made the tournament semifinals for the second straight year.
