The pairings for the Peninsula District girls’ softball tournament are nearly set, but there remain some seedings to be decided. In fact, it’s something of a mess at the bottom.
Here’s how it looks going into Monday’s games:
No. 1: Gloucester (16-1) has clinched.
No. 2: Warwick (15-3) has clinched.
No. 3: Kecoughtan (13-4) can clinch with a win over Hampton today.
No. 4: Menchville (14-4) can move up to No. 3, but only if the Warriors are upset at Hampton.
No. 5-6: The winner of today’s game between Bethel (9-8) and Woodside (8-9) will clinch. The loser will be the No. 6 seed.
No. 7-8: Hampton (4-12), Denbigh (4-14) and Phoebus (3-13) are in the mix for the final two spots. Today, the Crabbers host Kecoughtan and the Phantoms are at Gloucester. Tuesday, Phoebus hosts Hampton.
The tournament begins May 15 at Stoney Run.
