William and Mary recruit Jahlil Green of Lafayette High was voted as a running back and defensive back on the Virginia High School League Group 3A All-State football team. He was joined on the all-state team by three teammates: offensive lineman Tyler New, defensive lineman Blake Guminsky and linebacker Schekel Wallace.
Below is a description of each that ran Sunday with our Daily Press All-Star team, which included those players and Lafayette teammates Coleman Goad, Darren Patton and Brandon Villanueva-Pernell.
Jahlil Green | Lafayette | Senior. Will play for William and Mary next year after just missing school record with 2,055 rushing yards, while breaking the single season rushing TDs mark with 34.
Tyler New | Lafayette | Senior. Rams coach Andy Linn said the 3A All-State tackle brought hard-hitting "nasty" to an offensive line largely responsible for the team's 300-plus yards rushing average.
Blake Guminsky | Lafayette | Senior. The relentlessly attacking defensive end had 14 sacks among 20 tackles for loss, and was a huge reason the Rams limited six opponents to 14 or fewer rushing yards.
Schekel Wallace | Lafayette | Senior. His 100 tackles included 20 for loss, although his primary function was to turn plays inside for others to make tackles.
