Scott Frazier, who graduated from Bruton High on Friday, will play football at Virginia Military Institute as an invited walk-on. Frazier, 6-foot, 175 pounds, has a 4.0 grade point average and will attend VMI on an ROTC scholarship.
Frazier has been a mainstay at Bruton since his freshman season, when he played on all of the special teams and started part-time at wing-back for the Panthers' Group AA Division 3 state finalists. He was a team captain at Bruton as a senior, but missed nearly half the season with a knee injury.
He already had gotten onto college radar screens when he was selected among 40 linebackers last summer as the MVP at linebacker in the Football Unversity Camp held at Warhill High. That led to an invitation to an FBU International All-Star game in San Antonio, Tex. in early January.
Five other Bay Rivers District Class of 2013 graduates are going Division I: Warhill's Parker Osterloh (Virginia Tech), Grafton's Jesse Santiago (William and Mary), Grafton's Jacob Mazgajewski (Norfolk State), York's Cody Hendrickson (James Madison) and York's Johnny Cruz (Hampton).Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
