Inside the BRD: Bay Rivers sending many field hockey players to collegiate ranks

The number of Bay Rivers District field hockey players who will compete on the collegiate level continues to grow. The impressive thing is that so many are going  Division I: the latest we've learned about being Grafton's Andrea Rinehart and Tabb's Morgan Ames.

Rinehart, selected first team all-state at goalie, will play at Kent State. Ames will play at Radford.

Between them, Tabb and Grafton, which met in the 2011 A/AA state championship game won by Tabb will send at least 11 players to Division I. Aly Harmatz (Kent State), Hayley Mills (Lafayette), Marissa O'Brien (Appalachian State), Macy Peebles (Virginia) and Hailey Vann (Georgetown) are Tabb's others - with Taylor Omweg headed to Iowa after graduating in 2014.

Joining Rinehart on the D-I level from Grafton are Carolina Beaudoin (Stanford), Kaylee Maunz (Virginia Commonwealth), Alaina Madeline (Virginia Commonwealth) and Julia Young (North Carolina), while Jamestown's Jordan Chapman is headed to Longwood. MacKenzie Zabicki of York will play for Division III Bridgewater in the fall.
