The second-seeded Hampton Roads Academy girls volleyball team swept No. 4 Norfolk Academy 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 Saturday night to win the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools tournament.
Laura Killough earned MVP honors in the event on Bishop Sullivan Catholic's floor in Virginia Beach. She had 19 digs in the championship match.
Lauren Yevak (14 digs, five kills) and Bri Underwood (11 kills) joined Killough on the all-tournament team. Leanna Yevak added 20 assists and Rebecca Schell nine kills for the Navigators.
HRA likely will be a top-two seed in Division II when the Virginia Independent Schools tournament pairings are announced Sunday.
Virginia Commonwealth Conference girls:
Cary Beahm had 12 kills as Tidewater Academy of Wakefield beat Richmond Christian in four sets for the championship.
Amy Snead had 12 kills and five aces for Richmond Christian.
Wade Browning earned MVP honors while helping Cape Henry Collegiate beat Norfolk Collegiate 25-17, 25-11, 24-26, 25-17 for the TCIS tournament crown at Bishop Sullivan.
