Wednesday's college roundup: Heinicke's latest honor is Walter Camp first-team berth at QB

Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke’s latest honor was to be named the Football Championship Subdivision Walter Camp All-America first-team quarterback. The Payton Award winner set numerous records as a sophomore.

Also named to the Camp first team were three other Colonial Athletic Association standouts: Richmond senior defensive back Cooper Taylor, James Madison junior linebacker Stephon Robertson and JMU senior guard Earl Watford.

Another CAA star, New Hampshire linebacker Matt Evans, became just the fourth player to make the FCS team three times. Of those four, three are from UNH.

Women’s soccer:

Virginia, which got as high as No. 2 in the nation, swept top honors in the Virginia Sports Information Directors’ University Division voting.

Senior forward Caroline Miller was named Player of the Year, forward Makenzy Doniak Rookie of the Year and Steve Swanson Coach of the Year.
