Here are two nuggets of concert news. First, bluegrass star Rhonda Vincent will perform in Virginia Beach June 28. Secondly, tickets to see hard-rock acts Shinedown and Papa Roach in Virginia Beach Aug. 31 go on sale June 7.
Here are news releases about both concerts.
The American Outdoor Show Celebrates Freedom with Queen of Bluegrass Rhonda Vincent
The sweet sound of bluegrass comes to Virginia Beach when celebrated recording artist Rhonda Vincent and the Rage take the stage at the Virginia Beach Convention Center June 28. The concert is part of the entertainment offerings at the inaugural American Outdoor Show being held June 28-30.
“We are excited to present such a world class talent for the Inaugural American Outdoor Show,” said show developer Michael Barder “Families will enjoy the amazing talent that Rhonda brings to her music.”
Rhonda Vincent grew up in Northern Missouri in the tiny town of Greentop as the 5th generation of the musical Vincent Family. She began her broadcasting experience at age 3, performing on her family’s local TV & Radio Shows as The Sally Mountain Show. Vincent’s latest release, Sunday Mornin’ Singin’, brings her full circle – transcending her musical way of life into a successful career, and the coronation as the new Queen of Bluegrass, as proclaimed by the Wall Street Journal.
Rhonda is an artist at the peak of her career with multiple Grammy nominations, 5 consecutive Entertainer of the Year Awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America, and an unprecedented 7 consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year Awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association. And when the lifetime of accolades bestowed upon Rhonda and her band The Rage are all added together, the group emerges as the Most Awarded Band in Bluegrass Music, with over 80 awards.
The concert will take place Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m., and is included with admission to The American Outdoor Show. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for active duty military with ID and children 16 and under are free with a paying adult. Tickets are available at the Virginia Beach Box Office during normal business hours, or online at www.theamericanoutdoorshow.com. For more information, please call 757-849-8566.

SHINEDOWN makes their triumphant return to the CARNIVAL OF MADNESS after headlining the 2010 inaugural launch, with a lineup that also included Sevendust, Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd, and 10 Years. The first CARNIVAL OF MADNESS proved to be one of the biggest tours of the summer, heralded as a Top 50 tour by Pollstar. Last year’s trek featured Evanescence, Chevelle, Halestorm, and New Medicine.
"CARNIVAL OF MADNESS is more than a show--it's an experience,” proclaims SHINEDOWN frontman Brent Smith. “This year, it's all about reinvention. The culmination of five powerful and dynamic bands joining together to prove to the world that rock-n-roll is alive and well. So, step right up. Come one, come all. The CARNIVAL OF MADNESS has arrived!!!"
PAPA ROACH frontman Jacoby Shaddix says, "We're so stoked to be on CARNIVAL OF MADNESS this year. It's an absolutely killer bill from top to bottom...fans better be ready to get crazy at these shows."
"I can hardly wait for the CARNIVAL OF MADNESS,” says SKILLET lead singer John Cooper. “SHINEDOWN is one of the best bands in the business and we’re excited to share the stage with them and great performers like PAPA ROACH, IN THIS MOMENT, and WE AS HUMAN. Also, it’ll be our first tour playing songs from our new album, RISE, so SKILLLET will be doing our best to bring the pain every night!"
As IN THIS MOMENT declares, “We are thrilled to be a part of CARNIVAL OF MADNESS this year. SHINEDOWN is one of our favorite bands and it is truly an honor to share the stage with them again. All the bands involved this year bring something unique and exciting to the table, making this a ‘do not miss’ event! We are humbled and grateful that we get to be a part of CARNIVAL OF MADNESS this year, and can't wait to surprise you with our brand new show this summer!”
WE AS HUMAN lead singer Justin Cordle agrees, “I can't begin to tell you how stoked we are to be on the CARNIVAL OF MADNESS this year. To be able to meet new fans on a tour with so many bands that we've admired for so long is incredible. We are ready to do this!”
SHINEDOWN is indisputably one of the most successful rock bands of the past 10+ years, enjoying an unparalleled streak of hits. The band’s current album, AMARYLLIS, entered the Billboard “Top 200 Albums” chart at #4 upon its release (#1 on the “Top Rock Albums” chart), and has already spawned three consecutive #1 singles with “Bully,” “Unity,” and “Enemies.” Over the course of their illustrious career, SHINEDOWN has scored a staggering 17 #1 singles (including their current streak of 10 consecutive #1 rock radio hits). The band’s latest single, “I’ll Follow You,” is currently #3 on the rock chart. The band’s performance of the song for their just-released THE LIVE ROOM EP can be viewed at The Warner Sound (http://bit.ly/11M3mtU). One of the most exciting live rock acts, Pollstar has listed SHINEDOWN’s most recent headlining trek on their Top 20 Concert Tours of 2013. The band’s unprecedented ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their RIAA Platinum-certified 2003 debut LEAVE A WHISPER, its Gold-certified 2005 follow-up, US AND THEM, and 2008’s Platinum-certified THE SOUND OF MADNESS. SHINEDOWN’s numerous national television appearances include performances on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Today Show,” CBS’ “The Early Show,” among others.
SHINEDOWN is also releasing THE LIVE ROOM EP in conjunction with the tour announcement. Available at leading digital retailers starting today, the five song-collection features tracks from the band’s fourth studio album, AMARYLLIS, recorded live at Henson Studios (formerly the historic A&M Studios) in Hollywood, CA. Highlights include audio and video performances of SHINEDOWN’s current single “I’ll Follow You,” chart-topping smash “Bully”, and rendition of Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move.”
Proving that they haven’t gone anywhere, PAPA ROACH recently scored yet another #1 radio hit, which is their career fifth and comes 13 years after their first with “Last Resort.” “Where Did The Angels Go” topped the active rock radio chart, according to BDS/Billboard. Very few bands have achieved #1 success at multiple times spanning over a decade – a feat that PAPA ROACH is highly underrated for accomplishing. The single comes from the band’s latest acclaimed album, THE CONNECTION (Eleven Seven Music), which was released in October 2012 and debuted as the #2 rock album on iTunes. Revolver declared the album, “a fist-pumping return to form…” PAPA ROACH has sold upwards of 10 million albums worldwide. The band boasts two Grammy® nominations, an MTV VMA nomination, as well as eleven Top 10 rock hits, seven Top 10 alternative hits and can claim the Most Played Alternative
Song of the Decade (BDS) with their breakthrough single “Last Resort.” The band also recently
surpassed 4 million fans on Facebook. Known for their electrifying and explosive live shows, PAPA
ROACH has become the common denominator for some of the most successful rock tours in recent years ...
