Santa letters, hiking with Santa ... must be December!

If you happen to have a child with a Santa fixation, here's some opportunities to satiate that wee one's appetite.

Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism has volunteered to help Santa with his mail, said a spokeswoman. County youth ages 12 and under who want to hear from Santa can send their letters to the parks office.

Once the letter is received, it will be forwarded to Santa and he will send a reply, the spokeswoman said. All letters must include a full name, full address, age and wish list and must be received by Dec. 9.

Due to the popularity of the activity, no letters from or to addresses outside of Gloucester County will be answered. Mail the letters to Santa at 6467 Main Street, Gloucester VA 23061.

Also, to get in shape for his big event Dec. 24, Santa apparently enjoys hiking on the trails of Beaverdam Park. Kids who may want to get inside information from Santa on this year's delivery schedule, what's on their list, etc., can hike along with Santa.

The Santa hike is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 14. The fee is $5 per child and the deadline to register is Saturday (12/7).
