I can't procrastinate anymore. It's the eleventh hour of the final day of the year. Enough of the inner dialogs and long bouts of second guessing. It's time to man up and name my favorite albums of 2012.
Truth be told, I'm of two minds when it comes to these lists. I'm an addict who starts scouring the Internet for best-of lists starting in early December. I'm always looking for that great album that somehow escaped my attention. Realistically, though, everyone's listening time is limited. If someone can name 10 albums that they absolutely loved, how many discs did they listen to and ultimately reject? One hundred? Five hundred? Do these people have jobs? Families?
Thanks to a digital streaming subscription, I listened to more music in 2012 than I have in many years, possibly several decades. Still, I struggled to find 10 discs I would wholeheartedly recommend without any qualms whatsoever. So, once you get past No. 5 on my list, you're looking at albums I enjoyed but found flawed in some way.
I'm throwing them all out there anyway. Hope you like 'em and hope your 2013 is full of magic and melody ... or at least satisfaction.
