If you like vinyl - those classic old-school record albums that play on turn tables - then here is some big news for you:
The Conch & Bucket restaurant, at 13 East Queens way in Downtown Hampton, is raffling off a collection of 2,200 records as a benefit for the Blues Kids of Hampton. The records, along with the cabinets that hold them, have been donated by an anonymous resident.
Raffle tickets are $10 for one ticket, or $25 for three. They are available at Conch & Bucket, and a portion of the collection (from A through D, alphabetically) is on display at Conch & Bucket. The drawing will be held on Oct. 25.
The Blues Kids of Hampton, which kicks off its summer camp this week at The American Theatre in Phoebus, is an outstanding organization that promotes music education - focusing on blues music - in local schools. Young musicians from the Blues Kids of Hampton play regularly around the area, often with noted local blues singer Jackie Scott.
