This eye-witness drawing of Union troops departing Fort Monroe for the May 10, 1862 amphibious landing at Ocean View records such details as the presence of President Abraham Lincoln, bottom center,  the USS Monitor, right center and the busy wharves that stretched along the shore of Hampton Roads at Fort Monroe. Also shown in the distance are Fort Wool and the Norfolk shoreline.
