Orlando D. Britt, 24, of Marshall Avenue in Norfolk, was arrested June 5, 2008 after an incident inside a Virginia Beach parking garage where shots were fired. According to police, the incident began at 8:43 a.m. when they received a report of a fugitive -- who had outstanding warrants in Portsmouth and Norfolk -- who was in a car on the third floor of the parking garage at Town Center in Virginia Beach. When officers arrived and attempted to arrest him, he refused to get out of the car and then engaged in a physical struggle with an officer. At some point the officer's gun "became a part of the altercation," and rounds were fired. No one was hurt. Britt has been charged with attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer and assault on a law enforcement officer, both felonies.
