New owners reopen German cafe in York County

New owners John and Regina Cahoon have taken over The German Store and Cafe in York County.

They’re planning a soft opening this week and a grand re-opening on Feb. 1.

“The grocery section will be pretty much the same, but we’ve remodeled the dining room,” says general manager Bob Bailey.

German chef Christiana Wold will be cooking up traditional favorites including pork and veal schnitzel, German sausages, and authentic potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut. The cafe also has added a German meat and cheese tray and German potato pancakes.

The wine and beer list will include Aventinus on tap, a dark Bavarian wheat beer by brewers G. Schneider & Sohn. German beers and wines will be available on the premises and for sale as well.

The store and deli sell German groceries, confections and health and beauty products.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
