Tired of the gold-leaf mirror on your dining room wall or the basic black dresses in your closet?
Want pretty decorative plates for that wall or a red silk jacket for those dresses?
Think consignment shops for selling good stuff you no longer want and for buying things to freshen your décor and wardrobe.
Stores like Chickadees in Williamsburg and The Stock Exchange in Newport News agree in a contract to sell an item on behalf of the owner for a percentage often 40 to 70 percent of the selling price. You keep the rest.
Here are some treasures we found when we made the rounds of some local consignment shops. Remember what you see today is often gone tomorrow with something new and exciting in its place.
