Powerhouse Hampton R&B singer Myra Smith, a veteran of Jae Sinnett's funky big band and various gospel projects, will celebrate the release of her new live album with a benefit show in Norfolk next month.
Smith's event will take place 7-10 p.m. Oct. 13 at Scotty Quixx, 436 Granby St., and will benefit the charity ForKids, which helps homeless families. "Not only do I want to make music that matters, I want to always do something for my community," Smith wrote in a note. "I believe in the non-profit ForKids and their work in our community."
Admission to the event is free, but those who make a donation to ForKids of $20 or more will get a copy of her new album "LIVE."
Smith's allbum "Undying Love" was released in February 2012. In November of last year, she got the chance to open for Brandy at Willett Hall in Portsmouth. She's also shared stages with Eric Roberson and Jill Scott.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
