Chowan University graduate and former Hampton Crabber Talaya Lynch was hired as an assistant coach at Montreat College in North Carolina.
Lynch, who finished second on Chowan’s all-time scoring list with 1,412 points, was on Hampton High’s 2007 state championship squad.
Current Hampton University coach David Six was Lynch’s high school coach.
Virginia junior and NCAA singles champion Danielle Collins made her U.S. Open debut and pushed No. 2 seed Simona Halep to three sets.
