The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the historic courthouse.
The Board is expected to hold one public hearing on a budget amendment that would include the acceptance of a $2 million grant the county was recently awarded from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The grant is expected to be used to elevate nine homes that have received repeated flood damage during storms. The money will also be used to acquire three properties that owners no longer want because of their flooding issues.
The meeting's agenda also includes updates from the Virginia Department of Transportation, Sheriff Mark Barrick, and Planning director John Shaw.
In addtion, the Board is expected to review a proposed amendment to the county's zoning ordinance regarding aquaculture.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
