Jamestown tour and Spanish wines coming up June 20

Historic Jamestowne and La Tienda are sponsoring a joint walking tour and wine reception on Thursday, June 20.

At “Jamestown — The Spanish Story Revealed,” participants will take a walking tour of the James Fort site and learn how the Spanish shaped the English settlement at Jamestown. The event will conclude at La Tienda’s retail store for a tasting of Spanish tapas and wines.

Spanish explorers sailed into the Chesapeake Bay in 1561 and returned in 1570 to found a Jesuit mission. After the English built Jamestown in the early 1600s, they prepared for a possible Spanish attack.

The walking tour will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Jamestown Island. Cost is $45. Space is limited and reservations are required.

Historic Jamestowne. 1368 Colonial Parkway, Jamestown Island.

La Tienda. 1325 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg.
