What better way than to renew their rivalry with Florida A&M, which features former HU coach Joe Taylor.
Head Coach Donovan Rose talks about passion, technique and a turn around for his team. Rose became emotional this week when he spoke of his former mentor.
"I know how he plays," Rose said. Rose feels that he has more of advantage over Florida A&M. In fact, Rose and the Pirates defeated Taylor and the Rattlers in their first encounter last season.
Injuries to his two top quarterbacks contributed to Hampton's loss to Bethune, but with Taylor headed to Hampton, Rose knows he has to "get over i." and enter Saturday's game with "thick skin."
As they prepare to go up against Florida A&M Saturday the team talks about nothing less than passion and determination.
Florida A&M is in a very promising position right now, having won all its conferences games. If the Ratters defeat the Pirates, they will be in position to challenge for the MEAC crown. The Pirates, well aware of that, hope to repeat last season's success, a 25-0 blowout of the Rattlers.
"Our goal is no one scores," Rose said, referring to any Pirate opponents.
