Hampton Acoustic Blues Revival, happening Saturday, honors Virginia blues greats

The Hampton Acoustic Blues Revival returns on Saturday, March 9, with a dual mission. It's honoring two Virginia blues greats who have passed on -- John Cephas and Ann Rabson -- while also adding fuel to a living tradition.

This year's mini-festival will feature Mary Flower, Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton, Shawn "Dirty" Strickland, The Piedmont Acoustic Bluz Duo, plus a slide guitar workshop by Hampton Roads' own Larry Berwald.

The event, sponsored by the Natchel' Blues Network, offers the chance to soak up Piedmont, folk and Mississippi Delta-style blues music.

Concerts will take place 4-9 p.m. at Mary T. Christian Auditorium at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton. General admission is $10. Members of the Natchel Blues Network get a $3 discount.

Here's a video preview of the event.
