A Gloucester man pleads guilty to child pornography possession charges

A 70-year-old Gloucester man pleaded guilty on Monday to multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Randall Keefer, a resident of the 1900 block of Hayes Road in Gloucester Point, faces sentencing on Dec. 16 in Gloucester County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to seven counts of possession of child pornography, said Commonewealth's Attorney Holly Smith.

Keffer averted a trial on the charges by pleading guilty. Smith said that based on witness testimony, if there had been a trial, and information provided to the prosecution, it's not believed that Keefer intended to share the pornographic images he had on his computer with other individuals.

Based on Keefer's lack of prior record and his age, Smith said she agreed to remove the requirement for mandatory prison time. This allows the judge to use his discretion when sentencing the defendant, Smith said.
