Short Lane Ice Cream headlines Gloucester farmers market kickoff

The inaugural "Summer Nights Market" on Main Street featuring a farmers market and live music kicks off its summer season Wednesday afternoon.

The weekly Wednesday afternoon and evening farmers market will feature local produce, food, arts and crafts on Carriage Court at the Gloucester Museum of History, according to a Gloucester Main Street Association spokeswoman.

The event on Wednesday is called the "School's Out Ice Cream Social" and will last from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Short Lane Ice Cream will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Virginia Beach group "The Americana Lovebirds" will be the live musical entertainment.

The farmers market will be held each Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through August. For information or if you are interested in becoming a vendor call the Gloucester Main Street Association at 804-695-0700 or email at director@gloucestervillage.com.
