The graduation rate for Gloucester County students climbed this past year, while the dropout rate dropped.
The graduation rate for students in the 2012 school year climbed to 87.9 percent, according to statistics from the Virginia Department of Education. The dropout rate fell to 5.9 percent.
It's the third straight year Gloucester has received good news on its graduation and dropout rates.
The on-time graduation rate was at 86.6 percent in the 2011 school year, up from 78.7 percent in the 2010 school year.
The dropout rate in Gloucester had hovered around 10 percent before falling to 7.2 percent in 2011.
