The Virgina Symphony begins its concert season this weekend with performances in Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Soloist is renowned French pianist Philippe Bianconi, who will perform Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, Ferguson Center for the Arts, Christopher Newport University, Newport News; 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, Chrysler Hall, Norfolk; 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, Town Center, Virginia Beach.
