( Courtesy Virginia Stage Company ) An artist's passions are laid bare in "Red," onstage through Nov. 6 at Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk. The John Logan play stars Robert Dorfman as abstract Expressionist Mark Rothko and Eric Gilde as his assistant as they explore the meaning of art in our lives while struggling to complete an important commission for the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York. Performances take place at the Wells Theatre at Monticello Avenue and Tazewell Street. Tickets are $33 to $50 by calling 627-1234, through Ticketmaster or online at www.vastage.com. -- David Nicholson |
