Journey and Steve Miller. When the lights go down in the city, two classic rock bands with roots in San Francisco – Journey and the Steve Miller Band – will bring their hits to the Farm Bureau Live amphitheater in Virginia Beach on Saturday night. Journey, fronted by lead singer Arnel Pineda, will be urging you to “Don’t Stop Believing.” Miller’s hits, such as “Fly Like an Eagle,” come to vibrant life in live performances. Tim McGraw. The country star (and the cowboy in him) will roll into the Farm Bureau Live amphitheater in Virginia Beach on Friday night. McGraw’s album “Sundown Heaven Town” won’t be released until September, but you’ll be able to hear some of the new songs mixed in with the old hits. Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope will also perform. Peninsula Pilots. Longing to hear the “crack” of a bat – a wooden bat – hitting a baseball? The Peninsula Pilots have begun their season at War Memorial Stadium, 1889 W. Pembroke Ave., in Hampton, featuring action from top college players in the Coastal Plains League. Friday night’s game will include the team’s first postgame fireworks display of the season. Sandstock at the Oceanfront. It’s three days of peace, love and tribute bands. Sandstock: A Tribute to Rock ’n’ Roll, at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront from Friday through Sunday, features a full roster of bands playing the songs of classic rockers such as Journey, the Rolling Stones, the Allman Bros., Steely Dan, Bob Seger, Pink Floyd and Elton John. Virginia Shakespeare Festival. The festival presents “Illyria,” a musical based on “Twelfth Night.” Opening 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. Performances through July 6 in Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall, 601 Jamestown Road, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg. Two-play subscriptions (includes “Julius Caesar” performed July 10-20), $44; single tickets, $28 adults, $18 students age 14 to college, $12 children. 757-221-2674.
