Sand Soccer Shootout. Buckroe Beach in Hampton will play host to the seventh annual Sand Soccer Shootout on Saturday and Sunday. Games will start at 8 a.m. each day. In addition to two full days of soccer, the event features a soccer clinic, local vendors and a silent auction to benefit AIM for Excellence, a local foundation dedicated to youth athletics. Wreath-floating event in honor of fallen watermen, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, at the Poquoson Yacht Club pier’s Heritage Park/Watermen's Monument. No admission charge, but a $10 donation will purchase three carnations. All proceeds will go toward the cost of the wreath and the Watermen's Momument and Park Fund. Super Story Hour at the Main Street Library in Newport News, from 11 a.m.- noon on Saturday, May 31. Aimed at children ages 4-8. Reading and crafts on a superhero theme. 757-591-4858.

Americana Lovebirds. The Gloucester Arts on Main series features Virginia Beach indie country duo Americana Lovebirds at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Sunshowers will open the show. 6580 Main St., in Gloucester. Admission is free. Information: 804-824-9464.
Ingrid Michaelson. Indie pop singer Ingrid Michaelson, whose quirky tunes have found a home on TV shows such as “The Vampire Diaries” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” will play at The Norva in Norfolk at 8 p.m. Saturday. She is touring in support of her new album “Lights Out,” with Storyman and Sugar + the High-Lows as opening acts. Tickets: $28.25.

Summer concert series begin Thursday, June 5:
Shagging on the Riverwalk. This free summer concert series kicks off with the Mark Roberts Band at 6:30 p.m. at the Yorktown Riverwalk. 331 Water St., Yorktown. Concerts continue on Thursday nights throughout the summer.
Thursdays by the Lake. In Newport News, The Deloreons will open the Thursdays by the Lake series in The Mariners’ Museum Park, adjacent to The Mariners’ Museum at 6 p.m. Free. This free series of concerts continues on Thursday nights throughout the summer.
