These events happen during the Oct. 13-28 East Beach Homearama, sponsored by the Tidewater Builders Association. The showcase of 10 new custom homes is located along Shore Drive in the Ocean View area of Norfolk.
Homearama is open from noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 13-27 and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.
Homearama is a heart-healthy event all day, every day. Keep track of the distance you walk by following sidewalk decals that start at the ticket booth – presented by Eastern Virginia Medical School.in support of the Healthy Norfolk Initiative.
Saturday, Oct. 13, 2-4 p.m. – Join WWDE radio on site
Sunday, Oct. 14- Bike Day at Homearama entitles all who power to Homearama by bicycle to a $2 discount, as part of the Healthy Norfolk Initiative.
Sunday Oct. 14 – Bike safety check. Bike it to the EVMS Healthy House (House 8) for the “Universe Between Our Ears”bike safety clinic, with helmet-fitting demonstrations and giveaways.
Sunday, Oct. 14, 4-6 p.m. – Robbin Thompson live and in concert on the Bayfront Green. While you’re in the groove, take in some of Robbin Thompson’s personal memorabilia at The Norfolk House (House 3), named for his song “Sweet Virginia Breeze.”
Monday, Oct. 15 – Military Appreciation Day. Military guests get a buy-one, get-one-free admission with a valid military identification card.
Monday, Oct. 15, 6-8 p.m. – Culinary Tasting with Bardo at The Coastal Idea House (House 2). Sample edibles with an Asian flair and get your photo taken with Miss Hampton Roads USA. All presented by Hampton Roads Magazine.
Tuesday, Oct. 16 –Norfolk Employee Appreciation Day. City and school employees receive a $3 discount with their ID badge.
Tuesday, Oct. 16 – Culinary Tasting with Founders Inn at The Coastal Idea House (House 2). Get a taste from an inspired, award-winning kitchen known for its regional and authentic Colonial dishes.
Wednesday, Oct. 17 –REALTORS Day. Area real estate agents are admitted free all day with a business card and ID. Breakfast is from 9:30-11 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 18 – Urban design thought leader Marianne Cusato to speak. Reception at 7 p.m.; program at 8 p.m., at the East Beach Bay Front Club. Cusato will present “The Just Right Home: Buying, Selling, Renting or Just Dreaming. How to Find Your Perfect Match.”
Friday, Oct. 19, 4-8 p.m. – Meet urban design rock star Marianne Cusato. at Elegance in a Small Package (House 6). Built by DeBord Custom Homes, the house design is a version of Cusato’s “New Economy Home” series.
Sat. Oct. 20 – Explore the Wonders of Green Building. Be sure to pick up a Green Building Council Walkabout Passport and visit all 10 houses for information on the building techniques and products that make more energy efficient and Earth friendly. Those who complete the passport, noting the “code word” at each stop, have a chance to win valuable prizes.
Saturday, Oct. 20, 1-3 p.m. – Join WAFX radio as they present the Mike Proffitt Band and the Parrot Head Club
Saturday, Oct. 20 – Celebrate Sweetest Day. International Old Dominion University students at The Globe (House 9) will share sweets from their homeland with visitors.
Sunday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 27, 2-4 p.m. – International fun and games for kids, International Old Dominion University students will lead a variety of activities at The Globe. Kids can leave with souvenirs, including a scroll with their name written in different languages and fun prizes.
Sunday, Oct. 21, 1-3 p.m.—Find a “Grand in the Sand” with a Max Media giveaway.
Sunday, Oct. 21 – High five a Norfolk Admiral.Congratulate a Calder Cup champion, following a memorable 2011-2012 season, at the EVMS Healthy House (House 8).
Monday, Oct. 22, 6-8 p.m. – A Taste of Norfolk, sponsored by Hampton Roads Magazine, invites guests to sample cuisine from Norfolk restaurants and vote for their favorite. Miss Hampton Roads USA also will be available for photo ops.
Wednesday, Oct. 24 – Mothers Day Out. Gates open early at 10 a.m. for Moms with school-age children.
Wednesday, Oct. 24 – Make friends on United Nations Day with Old Dominion University international students at The Globe (House 9), the Charity House to benefit the Global Friendship House.
Saturday, Oct. 27, noon to 4:30 p.m. – Free diabetes screening, Stop by the EVMS Healthy House (House 8) for a hemoglobin A1c, blood pressure and cholesterol checkup.
Saturday, Oct. 27, noon–4 p.m. – East Beach (Land shark) Luau with Max Media.
Sunday, Oct. 28, 1-3 p.m. -- Sinclair's radio stations present the East Beach Sea Monster Mash Party for kids.
Monday, Oct. 29, noon –6 p.m. – Homearama Furniture Sale Pickup. Price lists are available at each home throughout Homearama. Bring your receipt for back-gate entry to pick up furniture and accessories.
Homearama is open from noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 13-27 and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28. Gates open at 10 a.m. Wed., Oct. 24 for Mothers Day Out. Admission is $10 or $17 for a two-day pass. Children 12 and under are free. Military and seniors (62 or better) get a $1 discount Monday-Thursday. Only one discount applies.
