Expect long delays at times on Sunday if you are southbound on the George P. Coleman Bridge while maintenance crews work on the structure.
Single-lane closures will occur from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will require two 45-minute traffic stops for southbound traffic, said a Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman.
The single-lane closures are necessary to allow crews to perform electrical-mechanical work to the bridge, the spokeswoman said. The bridge will remain fully operational throughout the work.
In addition to the single-lane closures, however, there will also be the 45-minute traffic stops to allow crews to reposition equipment.
Additional lane closures are planned for Sundays on March 17, May 5 and June 16.
