Zydeco champ C.J. Chenier and band to play post-Mardi Gras party in Williamsburg

Marcia BallMardi Gras

The Corner Pocket in Williamsburg has for years maintained a joyous connection between Virginia's colonial capital and New Orleans.

From Marcia Ball to Geno Delafose, many top Louisiana players have rocked the restaurant and billiards room.

The tradition continues next month when The Corner Pocket will present C.J. Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band on Saturday, Feb. 23. C.J., son of legendary zydeco musician Clifton Chenier, is credited with expanding the accordion-powered style's scope and reach. He's recorded at least eight albums since 1988, the most recent being "Can't Sit Down" from 2011.

Tickets to the show, $15 in advance, go on sale Jan. 23. Call 757-220-0808 or visit the Corner Pocket's website.
