Pictures -- "Women of the Chrysler: A 400-Year Celebration of the Arts"

Even without its ties to "Minds Wide Open" -- a statewide celebration of women in the arts -- this exhibit of more than 150 works from the Chrysler Museum of Art's permanent collection would be an extraordinary event. Beginning with such early pioneers as French painter Claudia Bouzonnet-Stella and American sculptor Harriet Goodhue Hosmer, it traces an increasingly rich path through time, showing how such figures as 19th-century American painters Mary Cassatt, Susan Watkins and Helen M. Turner helped paved the way for the increasingly prevalent feminine view of today.
